Salesforce, best known for their Customer Relationship Management tool, are coming to Boston University! On October, 19th 2017 Biztech will be hosting Salesforce for an information session from 4:30-6:30pm in the Questrom Auditorium. Register here.
In 1999 Salesforce was founded by Marc Benioff, Dave Moellenhoff, Frank Dominguez and Parker Harris - together they created one of the first business software applications based around the software as a service (SAAS) model. The SAAS model is one in which a "third-party provider hosts applications and makes them available to customers over the Internet" (Rouse). Building the business around the SAAS model allowed Salesforce to gain a strong competitive advantage as competitors attempted to transition their business to the superior model. As a result, Salesforce grew rapidly and capitalized on its strong understanding of the emerging technology by consistently releasing new products. Today, Salesforce had a diversified portfolio of cloud-based products ranging from cloud analytics to cloud internet of things management. Their constant innovation through the SAAS model has helped them become an industry leader in cloud computing and currently boast an impressive market capitalization of 69.8B [10/16/17].
